Argentine football legend Diego Maradona has admitted to paternity of three other children born in Cuba, adding to the five children he has already confessed to, his lawyer said Friday.

"Maradona has three children in Cuba, he is in contact with them," lawyer Matia Morla told Canal Cana Tracy.

The confirmation of the paternity of these children means that the 58-year-old 1986 World Cup champion has so far formally admitted to paternity of eight children, who during his lifetime has known legal disputes for his claim to recognize paternity.

His 29-year-old daughter, Gianna, was happy with the news, according to her report on Instagram. "Three more and you will have a team of 11. Come on, you can do it!"

Gianna and her sister Dalma, 31, are at odds with Maradona after they decided to stand with their mother, Claudia Villafan, in the battle that followed the break-up of their marriage between 1984 and 2003.

Morla said Maradona would not contest the paternity suit in Cuba, where the former soccer player was sporadically treated for cocaine addiction between 2000 and 2005. "So far they have not been recognized, but Diego will be responsible for what he has to take responsibility for," Morla said.

Morla, whose Twitter account shows he spent part of January in Havana, "raised the case (paternity by the mother) but with great respect."

Maradona has for years denied having any non-girl children from Villafan, but was forced to confess to Diego Junio, 32, and Yana, 22, after a long legal battle with their mother.

The fifth child, Diego Fernando, six years old, had a modern relationship with Argentinian Veronica Ochida.

Maradona is currently working as coach of the Mexican second division Dourados de Sinaloa.

La leyenda del fútbol argentino Diego Maradona admitió la paternidad de otros tres niños nacidos en Cuba, que se suman a los cinco niños a los que ya confesó, dijo el viernes su abogado.

"Maradona tiene tres hijos en Cuba, él está en contacto con ellos", dijo la abogada Matia Morla a Canal Cana Tracy.

La confirmación de la paternidad de estos niños significa que el campeón de la Copa Mundial de 1986, de 58 años, hasta ahora ha admitido formalmente la paternidad de ocho hijos, que durante su vida ha conocido disputas legales por su reclamo de reconocer la paternidad.

Su hija de 29 años, Gianna, estaba feliz con la noticia, según su informe en Instagram. "Tres más y tendrás un equipo de 11. ¡Vamos, puedes hacerlo!"

Maradona está trabajando actualmente como entrenador de la segunda división mexicana Dourados de Sinaloa.
